ISI Product Certification Scheme

The ISI (Indian Standards Institute) Product Certification Scheme is a conformity assessment scheme operated by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a statutory body under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. The scheme is designed to ensure the quality, safety, and reliability of products sold in the Indian market.

Under this scheme, manufacturers of certain products are required to obtain a certification mark, known as the ISI mark, before their products can be sold in India. The ISI mark indicates that the product conforms to the relevant Indian standards specified by BIS. These standards cover a wide range of products including electrical appliances, automotive components, household items, and construction materials, among others.

The certification process involves testing the product samples in BIS recognized laboratories to ensure compliance with the relevant standards. Once the product meets the required standards, the manufacturer is granted permission to use the ISI mark on their products.
